I urge the BOS to invest in public safety further “upstream” by more aggressively funding public health, mental health, and social services. In addition, we need new opportunities in Mendocino County for an ongoing public conversation about how to assure safety and well-being for all local residents, including the most vulnerable among us. I support the proposal for a Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Law Enforcement Oversight as one promising mechanism for that conversation.
