Hello My name is Mike Jivan, I am a hotel owner in Mendocino County, I would like to start off by expressing my support for the purchase of the real property at 555 S. Orchard Ave.
My letter is to give better understanding about the housing crisis in our area concerning the homeless population. In our hotel portfolio we own multiple properties that have had to convert daily rentals to extended stay facilities to help the various resources to house individuals experiencing homelessness in our community. Those resources include The County of Mendocino, MCAVHN, RCS, CALWORKS. We have provided many hotel rooms to house individuals being helped by these resources. I believe the purchase will help take the pressure off our hotels as well as the resources that have to do case management for these individuals.
The pandemic has made our community come together and help our homeless families and I believe this project helps put our area at the starting line to a better future.
In conclusion, I support project homekey, I support the location of the facility, I strongly suggest the board push to pass the purchase in order to help our community and take the burden of the other hotels in our area.
As an executive director of a nonprofit that provides services for behavioral health clients with complex medical needs including housing supports and as a member of the Continuum of Care, the proposed project on Orchard street addresses the CoC's Strategic Planning goal number 2.1 Make homelessness brief and one-time and 1.1 Source new housing opportunities of all types whenever possible. This project has the opportunity to provide essential housing for those at risk and I highly support this project. Thank you.

I, Donald Paulson, am a former United States Marine who has experienced homelessness in Mendocino County. If it weren’t for the support and services that Mendocino county has offered me I wouldn’t have been able to get back on my feet. This county has many flaws in its systems but it’s the resources that this county offers that help move it forward. This purchase is a step towards the right direction for our county. Its resources like this that make those who live here have faith in our community. Please don’t let those with personal business agendas destroy a much needed resource.
After a close review of the proposed purchase, I would like to say this is a great start to help those families in need of housing. We constantly have a affordable housing shortages, this will be a much needed start to recovery for many of our struggling citizens. We have many resources in our great town but those resources are very limited this will provide incentive to our struggling population to be better and help our resources provide the help the people in our town desperately need. I am 100% for this project!
