This message was sent to Joe Scriven and submitted verbatim to e-comments at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Mirabito.

We are Ed and Tallulah Mirabito and we are writing to recommend that the Board of Supervisors support additional funding for the Resource Conservation District Hazardous Tree Removal Project. The program is an invaluable asset to the community to which we can personally attest. After the fire, they helped us enormously by removing some of the hazardous trees on our property. They worked efficiently and effectively and demonstrated an unquestionable understanding of forest management. This program actually gets money to the ground where it is needed most and should be continued.

    Thank you for your consideration.

On behalf of the Natural Resources Conservation Service Ukiah Field Office, I am voicing support for the fire recovery and mitigation projects proposed by the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District (MCRCD) for PG&E settlement funds. These projects build upon successful, ongoing efforts in the fire footprint including the removal of hazardous trees and road improvements that improve ingress and egress for the rural residential community. The MCRCD’s proposal to leverage the $2M Climate Investment grant (CCI) has important implications for Mendocino County forestland owners in their efforts to reduce fuel loads by developing an economically viable alternative to burning slash or leaving excessive bio-mass on site. Additional funding will enhance the project’s ability to serve as a model for gasification energy technology in Mendocino County and throughout the State. The projects proposed by MCRCD will be instrumental in fire recovery and in building a more fire resilient community.
