4e) Adoption of a Resolution Renewing its Declaration of a Local Emergency and Extending the Existence of a Local Emergency Due to Drought Conditions and Imminent Threat of Disaster in Mendocino County
The Mendocino County Russian River Flood Control & Water Conservation Improvement District supports the continued declaration of a Local Emergency Due to Drought Conditions and Imminent Threat of Disaster in Mendocino County. In the Russian River watershed, storage levels of Lake Mendocino are rapidly decreasing. The State Water Resources Control Board is preparing to issue formal curtailments that will extend the restriction to divert water based on the reservoir's condition. Lake Pillsbury, in the Eel River watershed, is also at dangerous lows and diversions through the Potter Valley Project to the Russian River watershed have decreased the water supply available for the Mendocino County residents, businesses, farmers, and environment. The District applauds the County's efforts in outreach and response and urges further communication to residents and visitors to the County of the extreme drought situation, need for conservation, and how to achieve these goals. The District continues to collaborate with the County and other regional stakeholders and regulators for the betterment of the people and environment of Mendocino County. Thank you, Elizabeth Salomone (General Manager)
