5d) Discussion and Possible Action Including Acceptance of the Presentation of the Board of Supervisors' Prioritized Worksheets Regarding Projects for Strategically Investing One-Time Pacific Gas & Electric Disaster Settlement Funds (Sponsor: Executive Office)
Good afternoon Board of Supervisors and Chair Gjerde:
This is Craig Schlatter, Community Development Director for the City of Ukiah. I am writing to voice support of the creation of a Mendocino County Housing Trust Fund. As the Board may know, the City of Ukiah established the Ukiah Housing Trust Fund in 2017, utilizing former redevelopment agency housing bonds. Ukiah's HTF plus other housing policies the City has implemented, and as included in its 2019-2027 Housing Element, have jumpstarted efforts to facilitate housing production in Ukiah. More housing units have been produced in Ukiah during the last five years than in any time in Ukiah's history.
There is much more to do, and to meaningfully address the demand for housing in the Ukiah Valley, regional collaboration between the City and Mendocino County is needed. This could include among other implementation ideas the creation of a Regional Housing Action Plan. We urge the Board to support the funding and creation of a Regional Housing Trust Fund.
