In reference to 12/14/2021 Board of Supervisors Agenda, both items 5e and 5f:

    Words matter.

In discussions today concerning the Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committees I’d like to bring your attention the imbalanced use of the word “crisis”.

Fire, drought, and COVID can all be described as crisis. Because Ad Hoc Committees are direct with factual precise statements of mission, the word crisis is not necessarily, and understandably, not included in these Ad Hoc titles or descriptions.

However, the word crisis is used in a heavily imbalanced, subjective nature with regards to the Index document statement “Ad Hoc Committee to work on County Policy or Policies to address the local short term rental crisis”

Crisis is not a factual description here, especially for a committee that is looking to be open minded in their research and consideration of such matters.

As to 5f, I ask to have the word “crisis” striken from the active Ad Hoc Committee Index line currently listed as “11/16/2021 Formation of an Ad Hoc Committee to work on County Policy or Policies to address the local short term rental crisis” and any future reference of that nature.

And reference to 5e, please include these comments in respect to 2021 Index of Standing Committees “Review complete list of Board Directives”

    Thank you.
