3t) Adoption of an Ordinance Amending Chapter 6.32 - Cannabis Business Tax to Add Section 6.32.055 - Relief From Minimum Tax - Notice and Affidavit of Fallowing
Thank you for working together with MCA, AdHoc, MCD, etc. to get to this item. We support the MCA memo to in the future tie the noticing together. precious natural resources during fire, drought & other existential crises our communities face in this time of shifting climate. AS we wrote earlier on the water items.... Our well ran dry for the first time in 2020 as we spent months on our property in Covelo only 2 acres from the August Complex Fire. We've had to cut back our farming operations, fallowing part of our farm this year to continue production that is feasible with limited water. We have added water storage & are deep into permits & waiting for approvals on a pond. We ALL must do our part to conserve water! We understand that the choice as it stands today is that the tax reprieve is only if you choose to fallow completely, but we also hope in the future fallowing part of the farm can be counted as well toward a tax break. To be taxed on what we ACTUALLY GROW makes more sense than to be taxed on the permit size regardless of output. Thank you! Laura & Marty Clein
