My name is Dolly Riley, and I am Chair of the Redwood Valley Municipal Advisory Council. I want to state my appreciation for the support that the Supervisors provide to local municipal advisory councils, also known as MAC. One special support is a Supervisor’s ability to set boundaries for wayward members in a MAC, such as when a member will not follow or recognize the Brown Act, or will not recognize the board of supervisor’s resolution which establishes each MAC. Without this support, if the MAC develops problems, they can implode and die. I thank Supervisor Mcgourty for supporting the Redwood Valley MAC in particular, which has had growing pains.
I also want to recognize RVMAC’s latest candidate as Alternate Member, Fran Laughton, who recently retired from her position as Director of the Mendocino College nursing program. Fran has been on two prior boards: the Mendocino County maternal child health board in 1995, and the Mendocino College Nursing advisory board from 2003 to 2019, serving as Chair. I applaud this highly qualified candidate who has decided to begin to make a difference in her local advisory council. Again, thank you all for your support in keeping the MAC groups sane and orderly.
