3u) Adoption of Resolution Finding That State and Local Officials Continue to Recommend Measures to Promote Social Distancing In Connection With Public Meetings
Wynn Coastal Planning & Biology strongly supports the continuation of Hybrid Meetings within the Planning & Building Division for all public meetings and hearings (including but not limited to: Subdivision Committee, Archaeological Committee, Zoning Administrator, Coastal Permit Administrator, Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors).
Our office is based on the coast; many of our clients are developing vacant property and thusly do not yet live in the area. The ability to participate remotely in hybrid meetings and hearings is efficient, climate effective and encourages public participation.
For us to make a 3-hour drive to and from Ukiah for an item that may only take 10 minutes to approve is a waste of resources (energy, fuel, time, money).
Many of our clients live at least 3 hours from Ukiah; for them to attend a hearing requires a minimum of 6 hours round trip. For some of our clients, it's a plane trip and lodging, on top of an already financially arduous process.
Please prioritize the continuance of Hybrid meetings for all public meetings and hearings.
SECTION 3. REMOTE TELECONFERENCE MEETINGS.
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to take all actions necessary to carry out the intent and purpose of this Resolution including, conducting open and public meetings in accordance with Government Code section 54953(e)(2) and other applicable provisions of the Brown Act.
