Agenda Item
2b) Discussion and Possible Action Including Referral to the Board of Supervisors Regarding Any Appropriate Direction to Staff to Prepare Possible Ordinance Amendment to Process Cannabis Cultivation Applications with Deprioritized Status for Not Paying Taxes and Not Providing Proof of a State Cannabis License While Cultivating
(Sponsor: County Counsel and Cannabis)
Honorable Supervisors,
I am glad you all are working with deprioritized applicants to get back into the application process. I believe you all should also help Phase 1 applicants in sunset zones who withdrew from the cannabis program a way back into the application process. For many trying to hold on the fallowing measure, economic reforms, streamline permitting motion passed, and equity grants came about too late. Providing a pathway to revive applications would be appreciated.
We absolutely need to reprioritize the small operators that the MCD has deprioritized. Issue permits and then if taxes are owed or a state provisional license still needs to be obtained, those activities can be carried out withing a reasonable time period. How many hoops, obstacles and barriers to entry can the MCD, on behalf of the County, continue to invent to the detriment of bringing our cannabis producers into the legal system? Please restore a pathway to legalization through reprioritization -- to be sure the MCD doesn't push those operators back into the illicit market. Thank you.
Honorable Supervisors,
Please review the attached memo from MCA regarding this agenda item.
Thank you for your consideration of the questions and comments we raise.
Sincerely,
Mendocino Cannabis Alliance
