Comment on item 3ac on the Consent Agenda; Grant Applications for the Local Transportation Climate Adaption Program. This important and historical moment where the Mendocino BOS can approve this Resolution on behalf of your constituents to seek funding to critical transportation projects for our county. This has been decades in the making. Having just attended the Northern California Super Region California Transportation Commissions Town Hall meeting in April where I was able to chat with three CTC Commissioners open to rural funding programs. They had made meeting summation statements to the group affirming the need to fund rural emergency access projects after a comprehensive presentation from the City of Paradise and the Caltrans District 2 Director. This gives me hope that over decades of efforts, it is possible to make progress on seemingly insurmountable issues if public officials are willing to act to take advantage of the opportunities of timing in the political era you find yourselves in. This is one of those moments when the tea leaves support decades of work and produce a moment in time where a rural underfunded County can make real progress for the public benefit. Thank you for the worker bees who have brought this forward for your action today and I feel in my bones we stand a good chance that one or both grant proposals will be funded via this program. Your friend in public service, Tony Orth.
