I am doing a county renewal for a client. I tried using Acella, but there was not an option for “renewal” – only “new app”, “mod app” and “withdrawal app”. Starting in early June and after several emails & phone calls I spoke with Gabriella Eaton who told me not to worry about it – renewals were not being processed for a while and that MCD would let me know if they needed anything when they get to it. A few days later, Canna Notes came out saying much the same thing but indicating that a renewal application needed to be in the queue. I emailed Gabriella back; she said to go ahead and submit the renewal documents via email to get into the queue. The MCD website wanted everything re-done on the newest forms (which are slightly but not materially different). They are still asking for LSAA, LSA NOA, live scans if not provided previously ( I thought they decided those were duplicative as the State asks for them) & other docs even though those have been submitted several years in a row without changes. I am wondering if this is because the website is not updated with the streamlined requirements or are they still wanting duplicative submissions. Also, none of the docs are imported into Acella. Staff did go in and hand enter at least the client’s license number and got me access to it, but it is not functional for renewals. That may need to be a tech fix to Acella by the vendor. Whichever the case, I took a lot of planner time trying to get Acella functioning without resulting in being able to do the renewal that way. Meanwhile, someone will have to import all the docs that I will be emailing for the renewal to Acella by hand when they get to it. This is an efficiency issue.
Long story short, can this issue of updating Acella to allow renewals, with MCD streamlined criteria, (add “renewal” option)(whether or not they are immediately reviewed) to optimize the process at MCD as well as for the licensee to your recommendations in the future? I know that tomorrow’s meeting is jam packed. I will Zoom in for a while in the morning, but have an 11 am meeting so will probably miss the public comment time.
I would like to thank the Committee and MCD for the work that everyone is doing. Improvement is happening, and it is great to see.
