I would like the County to explain how they justify raising fees for Cottage Foods licenses that are proposed to increase 198% for Cottage Foods A and 120% for Cottage Foods B. The county should be supporting and encouraging new small businesses that get started at the farmers market instead of making prohibitive fees. The County should also justify raising Farmers Market fees per market from zero to $460.

I know the county needs to raise money, but picking on small producers and start-ups seems counter productive. More vendors at the markets, and more small businesses getting started in farmers markets multipliy the local economy. Raising big fees is counterproductive and the increases are unjustified.

I urge the Supervisors to negate the requirement that Environmental Health operate on a 100% cost recovery basis. I urge the Supervisions to be reduce the fees proposed for Temporary Food Facility and mobile facility permits, I urge the Supervisors to reject the proposed increases for Cottage Food licenses. EH needs to present a rational for its operations and cost-cutting before developing a future fee schedule and reject the proposed fee for Farmers Markets.
