With regards to item 4g - proposed increase in TOT for hospitality. We do not think this is an appropriate way to budget for home health care. The TOT is already 10% of lodging expense, and any increase in the TOT or BID 1% increase should go toward fortifying the county as a whole eg: infrastructure (roads are still awful from the storms, both CalTrans and County roads); communications; back-up power; fire hazard reduction and other climate-related challenges.
While we agree it is essential to lift all county employees to a living wage, the means to do this should come from other budgetary areas, not the TOT or BID.
