We acknowledge and appreciate the County’s recent efforts to prioritize ensuring access to fire protection and emergency medical services (IV.B.). While Measure P and support from OES has been extremely beneficial, it does not close the widening funding gap as standards, costs and calls increase for Fire Agencies. Agencies continue to experience difficulty in maintaining sufficient personnel (both paid and volunteer) to meet NFPA 1710/1720 which can potentially compromise response times and delivery of services. We request the County update the “Complete” designation on IV.B.1. to clearly state that efforts are ongoing and needs are not met just as IV.B.2 is described as a continual effort.
